Darrick Hom Named to the Structural Engineers Association’s Local and State College of Fellows

July 17, 2018

Darrick Hom, Associate at Estructure, has been inducted into both the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) and the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) College of Fellows. SEAONC and SEAOC established the College of Fellows to honor esteemed members who have provided distinguished service to the association and made outstanding contributions in the field of structural engineering.

SEAONC and SEAOC induct fellows based on a set of criteria that includes demonstrated skill and achievement in structural engineering, contributions to the profession through publication or presentations, service to the organizations, and service to the public through participation on boards and bodies relevant to structural engineering.

Darrick has over 20 years of structural engineering experience in seismic evaluation, analysis, design, bracing of nonstructural components and code development. He currently works at Estructure in Oakland providing engineering solutions to healthcare facilities across California. He served as Managing Editor on FEMA 310 and ASCE 31-03 and still serves on the ASCE Standards Committee on Seismic Rehabilitation (ASCE 41).

He sat on the SEAONC Board of Directors from 2011 to 2016, and was President in 2014-2015. Darrick continues to be active in SEAONC and chairs the Hensolt SEAONC Legacy Project committee, whose goal is to document the history of structural engineering in Northern California.

Darrick also served on the Board of Directors of Engineers Alliance for the Arts (EAA) for six years, and has participated in EAA’s Student Impact Project (SIP). The SIP teaches high school students about structural engineering as a career and Darrick has volunteered his time, working with students in the classroom, for over 15 years.

We congratulate Darrick on this esteemed recognition.
