Estructure was the Structural Engineer of Record for the seismic retrofit and tenant improvement of a 30,000 square foot strip mall-to-medical office building conversion for John Muir Health. The former site of a T.J.Maxx in Pleasant Hill was transformed into a state of the art healthcare facility.
Renovations started with a seismic retrofit including new plywood shear walls, strengthening of the plywood diaphragm, and enhanced foundations. The tenant improvements required strengthening the roof framing for new mechanical units, designing a new main entrance, and developing an economical solution for support and bracing of partitions and ceilings in the high-bay space. Other structural elements included a new retaining wall and roof screen.
