Estructure performed structural and seismic peer review of the new 84,000 square-foot Lynda and Stewart Resnick Student Union at California State University, Fresno. The building, designed by HED Architecture, includes a grand interior staircase that serves as a gathering space for students. The building’s seismic force resisting system, designed by Miyamoto International, consists of 3-story tall precast insulated concrete panels at the building exterior. The panels were fabricated off-site, lifted into place and connected to steel framing. The $60 million building is LEED Gold and has rooftop solar panels that offset one quarter of the building load. It opened to students and visitors in October 2022.
