Estructure provided structural engineering for the design and construction of an enclosure for the hospital air intake shaft to prevent helicopter fumes from entering the hospital. The enclosure crosses a seismic joint between two hospital buildings. A temporary shaft enclosure was first designed as a mock-up for the permanent installation, enabling the hospital to validate the design concept. Design services included preparing framing details and related structural calculations for the new shaft enclosure and providing construction administration services.
