Sarah Durphy has been fascinated with earthquakes since she was jolted awake as a high schooler by the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. She studied structural engineering at UC San Diego and then at Stanford. She has 20 years of experience designing new hospital, school, and university lab buildings and evaluating existing structures for seismic performance. Her recent work has focused on renovations at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View and the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center. Whether the project is small or consists of renovating an entire building, Sarah brings a collaborative, positive approach to the team and designs structural solutions that bolster the architectural and infrastructure goals. She is passionate about emergency response and served as a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue structural specialist. Sarah is registered as a Structural Engineer in California and as a Professional Engineer in Minnesota where she lives.
